A companion and assistance dog for Riley!

We have started our journey to add a SD/Assistance dog to our family for Riley. I spent several weeks looking at different breeder websites, ads, researching assistance and therapy dogs and finally landed upon an ad that caught my eye. It was for Golden Retreivers. We decided to meet up with the breeder named Trisha near Portland, Oregon. Trisha raises Golden Retrievers and has beautiful show and obedience dogs. She has dogs that have been placed as Assistance Dogs. We went out to meet up with her and meet her adult breeding dogs and the current litter of puppies that she had and we were very pleased. Every Golden that she had were very kid friendly, beautiful and healthy dogs and although they were excited to see a whole bunch of us show up they never once jumped and knocked anybody over nor did they lick anybody to death (besides the puppies of course!) She was very interested in what we had to say and what the purpose of our dog would be for. Firstly, a companion for Riley to always be with and gain independance. Secondly an assistance dog to be harnessed to on outings where Riley typically runs away to explore. I feel confidant that we have picked the right breeder for our future Service Dog. All eyes, hips, and hearts are cleared, and the line of champions and titles go on forever in rally, show, and obedience. We made an agreement that she would help us pick the perfect dog. Boy or girl, out of whichever female we want. Now we just need to start by coming up with the first deposit and finding the right trainers! Yay!
